About North State Volleyball Academy

North State Volleyball Academy was started in 2004 by longtime coach and player Pablo Lana. Pablo has been coaching and playing volleyball for over 25 years. Pablo has coached at some of the top clubs and colleges  including, CSU Pueblo, Shasta College, St Mary’s College, Sport, Health Volleyball Club with Club Director and former Olympic assistant coach Ron Larson, and founder of Diablo Valley Volleyball Club

North State Volleyball Academy was formed with a clear vision of the guiding principles under which it would operate. Our mission is to provide a positive sports experience in all of our activities that fosters enjoyment and the development of all athletes. This club is responsible for; 

  • Providing a healthy and positive environment for participants.
  • Teaching and reinforcing the fundamentals of volleyball.
  • Encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship, focusing on positive reinforcement as a primary tool in the learning process.
  • Offering advanced skills and techniques for those athletes who wish to play at the next level.
  • Teaching that opponents and officials are to be respected and appreciated.
  • This club believes its participants are best served by providing an environment that will foster a long term love of the game.
  • This club is dedicated to opening player minds to the idea that while winning is clearly a primary objective, competition, improvement, playing to the best of one's ability, being a good sport, teammate, will ultimately
  • provide the majority of one's enjoyment and fulfillment.

North State Volleyball provides competitive teams for all areas of interest (whether it be to simply learn the game, players trying to make their junior high or high school teams, or for athletes interested in playing  in college.

Playing on a club team requires commitment; play is competitive, and practice and teamwork are key ingredients to an enjoyable season. Volleyball is a team sport, and everyone who makes a team will be expected to participate in all practices and tournaments. However, we know there may be a good reason for having to miss a practice or tournament due to other prior commitments, illness, etc. Please let us know during tryouts if there are any possible conflicts with the practice/tournament schedule so that we can work out a solution beforehand.

Once a player participates in a club or varsity program for any university, college, community college or junior college, he or she is ineligible to play in the National Championships.

2017/18 Team Fees

Local Area Teams - 12U - 14U - 16U - 18U   

$480.00 per player.

One payment of $480.00 or two payments of $240.00 

12U - 14U due on November and December  

16U - 18U due on  December and January

The Local Area player fee will be adjusted if players drop from the team and there are no players added from the waiting list.

10 players = $460.00 per player. Two payment of $240.00

 9 players = $511.00 per player. Two payments of $265.50

 8 players = $575.00 per player. Two payments of $307.50


Selected Local Area Team Players  need to register for a $14 regular or $16 for extended benefits  MANDATORY AAU individual player insurance card before the first scheduled practice. Register at play.aausports.org  when asked for the club code enter WWE67Y or choose North State Volleyball Academy from the drop down Club Tab list. Print out card and bring it to the first scheduled practice. (North State Volleyball Academy is not affiliated with USA Volleyball nor profit from AAU fees charged).

Local Area Players will not be placed on a team or allowed to attend the first scheduled practice until the following items are completed. 

1. Local Area Club player be registered on the North State Volleyball Academy Website.

2. Local Area Club player be registered for AAU Card.

3. Local Area Club players first/full payment made online.


Regional Area Teams - U12 - U14 - 16U - 18U 

Regional Team Players are selected by the Club Director at tryouts

(North State Volleyball Academy is not affiliated with USA Volleyball nor profit from USA Volleyball fees charged).

National Area U12, U14, U16, U18 Teams

(National Players are selected by Club Director and coaches at tryouts)

Player Team Fee

Player fees pay for, facility/ gym fees, tournament fees, uniform jersey, volleyballs, equipment, coaches stipends, administrative costs . Player travel to and from tournament sites, lodging and meals are not covered in this fee.

Practice Times

Club teams will practice on Sundays and/or a weekday evening practice as well. Practice times usually start on the Sunday following tryouts. Practice times are dependent on gym time, coaches schedule and the age and division playing in. A typical practice schedule would be:

12U Divisions: 12:00pm to 2:00pm

14U Divisions: 2:00pm to 4:00 or 4:00pm 6:00pm

16U Divisions: 4:00pm 6:00pm    

18U Divisions: 6:00pm to 8:00pm

 

Tournaments

Local, Regional and National Teams typically play in four or five series tournaments per season depending on age, division, and type of team playing on.

Local Area Team tournaments are typically held on Saturday or Sunday. Local Area teams play in the Redding, Anderson, Red Bluff or Chico area.

Regional Team tournaments are typically held on Saturday and/or Sunday/ Friday and/or Monday is possible as well. Regional teams typically play in the Sacramento, San Jose, San Mateo, Reno and Oregon areas. 

National Team tournaments are typically held on Saturday and/or Sunday/ Friday and/or Monday is possible as well. National teams typically play in the Oregon, Portland Oregon, Boise Idaho, Los Angeles and Denver Colorado areas.

All Day Tournaments (8-5 PM)

A.M. Wave Tournaments (8-3 PM)

P.M. Wave Tournaments (3-9 PM)

Most tournaments are structured that teams will play multiple matches in pool or round robin play. Based on those results, teams are seeded into brackets to determine the winners.

The North State Volleyball Academy website is updated daily and will give you all the information you will need during the season. Check the web site regularly before leaving for any scheduled practice or tournaments in case there has been a cancelation, time change, or location change. Changes are posted in red highlight on the main front page. We offer online registration payments with the following credit cards;  Visa, Discover and American Express.
